COLUMBIA NASHVILLE’S JORDYN SHELLHART will perform THE DIABETES FRIENDLY FOUNDATION’s inaugural “K9s for Kids” benefit on NOVEMBER 13th in DALLAS, TX. The benefit will help build awareness about DIABETIC ALERT DOGS as well as raise money for the cause.
Dogs have long been used by law enforcement and the military to sniff out drugs and bombs, but are now being trained to detect high and low blood sugar levels in their handlers. The “K9s for Kids” program provides assistance in locating DIABETIC ALERT DOGS while also providing funding for the training and placement of the animals for families in need.
JORDYN has a personal connection to the cause; in 2007, her older brother TAYLOR passed away at age 21 of undiagnosed Type 1 Diabetes. SHELLHART’S tragedy inspired her to write “Heaven Knows,” a song that resonates with anyone who has lost a loved one. “Heaven Knows” appears on her debut album, “In A Room,” which is available at BEST BUY AND iTUNES.
Attendance at the “K9s for Kids” benefit is limited; ticket prices are $125 and can be purchased on line at www.diabetesfriendly.org or by calling (214) 559-7176. For more information on JORDYN SHELLHART, check out www.jordynshellhart.com.
