Apple's New iOS 4.2 Update Makes Net Radio Streaming Easy

STEVE JOBS held a showcase TODAY touting the thinner, lighter MACBOOK AIR and new software including an MAC App Store. APPLE also released an iOS 4.2 update for iPHONE, iPAD and iPOD TOUCH devices that will provide wireless streaming via AIRPLAY. RAIN reports that the update includes music from Internet radio apps.
AIRPLAY turns an iPOD TOUCH and AIRPORT EXPRESS into a wireless, Internet radio-friendly home music system. By using several receivers around the house, the user can control a multi-room Internet radio system through an iPHONE.
The official iOS 4.2 version officially launches in NOVEMBER. Also unveiled today were the coming LION update to MAC OS X, which includes features that mimic the iPAD interface, due in SUMMER 2011; two sizes of the new version of the MACBOOK AIR, now with instant-on, no-boot-up starts; the new MAC App Store, launching in 90 days for current MAC OS X users; a version of FACETIME, the video calling software, for MACs; and the new edition if iLIFE, with updated versions of iPHOTO, iMOVIE, and GARAGEBAND, available now, free with new MACs and a $49 upgrade for existing users.
