As TRIBUNE prepares to file its reorganization plan proposal with U.S. Bankruptcy Court in DELAWARE TODAY (10/22), the WALL STREET JOURNAL is reporting that creditors are considering bringing in former NEWS CORP. executive PETER CHERNIN as Chairman of TRIBUNE's board.
A spokesman for CHERNIN told the JOURNAL that CHERNIN is not interested in TRIBUNE's CEO position but would not comment on the Chairman position. TRIBUNE's plan has the backing of unsecured creditors plus J.P. MORGAN, ANGELO GORDON AND CO. and OAKTREE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, but not AURELIUS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT.
