As ALL ACCESS told you yesterday (4/6), rumors are flying about CUMULUS Top 40 WYOK/MOBILE switching to a new format, with the biggest bets on a Country-Southern Rock hybrid.
A trip to WYOK's current site, www.hot104mobile.com, gives up the message: "Stay tuned to 104.1 FM for a major announcement. More details MONDAY, APRIL 13th at 7pm on this web site."
Now, what's wrong with that message? APRIL 13th is a THURSDAY!
Editor's note as of SATURDAY, APRIL 8 at 12:48p (PT): Received anonymous email at 11:33a (PT) that message on www.hot104mobile.com now reads correctly, "MONDAY, APRIL 10th". Email also says that the date was never incorrect and that ALL ACCESS was in error. ALL ACCESS verifies that the date on www.hot104mobile.com has been corrected, and stands by its original report posted on FRIDAY, APRIL 7th at 3:26p.Meanwhile, sources in the building are telling ALL ACCESS that Country PD BRIAN LANDRUM has been tapped to program the station. Most recently, LANDRUM was PD at KMDL/LAFAYETTE and before that, WSM-A/NASHVILLE.
We're also hearing rumors that former WXTU/PHILADELPHIA MD/afternooner CADILLAC JACK may be in the mix as well. Action to come!
