The ONE GOLD RADIO AC-Classic Hits TOTAL STAR NETWORK stations -- TOTAL STAR BRIDGWATER, TOTAL STAR SWINDON and TOTAL STAR BATH -- have been found in breach of their licensing conditions by U.K. radio regulator OFCOM.
The stations were sold to ONE GOLD in JUNE with the condition that the stations would adhere to the formats specified in their licenses, including local news for each area; OFCOM monitored the stations in JULY and determined that the stations were not airing local news hourly during weekday daytime as promised, and that the news content that was being aired "fell far short of the basic quality, quantity, production and news commitment levels which listeners in each of the three areas are entitled to expect."
ONE GOLD claimed that the news deficiencies were caused by a technical error, but OFCOM recorded the breach and said it will monitor the stations again to ensure compliance.
