RADIO ONE Urban WENZ (Z 107.9)/CLEVELAND OM COLBY COLB headed the effort for the station’s declared “Bully-Free Air Zone” last night (MONDAY) from 7-9p.
The station did something music stations never do -- they stopped the music for two hours. Students and families were encouraged to call in and talk about the effects of what bullying and cyber-bullying are doing to teens and young children across the nation, as well as in the greater CLEVELAND listening area. WENZ personalities BASHEER JONES and BIJOU STAR held a two-hour live rally at VILLA CLOTHING in the LEE HARVARD PLAZA in CLEVELAND.
Bullying has led to multiple deaths across the country. In the CLEVELAND area alone, at least four teenagers have committed suicide because of being bullied, according to their parents and court documents.
