A reported surge in consumer demand for HD Digital Radio receivers has three major retailers now planning to offer HD Digital Radios in their stores nationwide beginning this month and have announced sweeping marketing and education campaigns to support new customers. TWEETER, CRUTCHFIELD and ABC WAREHOUSE/DETROIT are front runners in marketing this new receiver technology.
The moves coincide with the second wave of the HD Digital Radio Alliance’s $200 million, on-air advertising campaign featuring those three retailers.
HD DIGITAL RADIO ALLIANCE Pres./CEO PETER FERRARA said, "Consumer demand for HD Digital Radio receivers has increased significantly over the past few months as consumers see the incredible value HD Radio offers. We expect these developments to end the lengthy waiting lists for receivers that consumers are currently experiencing. Clearly, these retailers have seen what we’ve seen: Consumers want HD Digital Radio programming, and smart retailers want to get ahead of the curve in providing it."
Spanish-language versions of marketing and advertising, and customized commercials running on some 260+ Alliance member radio stations. The commercials started today and a sampling of the ads can be heard online at www.hdradio.com/press_room.php.

Additionally, CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO announced that its Creative Services Group is making accessible radio advertisements promoting HD digital radio. Available to the 12 member companies of the HD DIGITAL RADIO ALLIANCE, the new spots are edgy and contemporary with a tag line that plays on the theme of high definition -- "Are You Def Yet?" CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO President/CEO JOHN HOGAN noted, "We are excited to add the HD DIGITAL RADIO ALLIANCE to the growing list of organizations using campaigns developed by our CREATIVE SERVICES GROUP. This is a particularly important collaboration as CLEAR CHANNEL is committed to the advancement of HD DIGITAL Radio, and to working with the many radio companies that are furthering the efforts of the ALLIANCE’s charter."
