As mentioned on ALL ACCESS on FRIDAY (9/23), CLEAR CHANNEL AC KEFM/OMAHA, NE began stunting with an All-Christmas format, creating speculation on where the format wheel would finally land. At 4p FRIDAY, KEFM launched "96.1 THE BREW" under the new call letters KQBW specializing in "EVERYTHING ROCK...THE 80's, AND MORE!" Some of the core artists being heard on 96.9 THE BREW include 80's Rockers such as, AC/DC, DEF LEPPARD, MOTLEY CRUE, and VAN HALEN. The station is now running commercial free, with 5,000 songs in a row.
Now we have learned of several staff changes inside the cluster. Country sister KXKT midday man KEVIN KANNON will co-host mornings on the new KQBW as part of the MICHELLE & MOOKY morning team. Filling KANNON's spot in middays on KXKT will be Classic Country sister KHUS afternoon driver RITCH CASSIDY.
Concurrently, KHUS middayer DAN ROBERTS slides into the afternoon drive slot and KXKT afternoon driver will voicetrack middays for KHUS in addition to his current duties.
