KANYE WEST has declared, "I’m the Rap version of GEORGE BUSH," while taking responsibility for calling the president a racist during the HURRICANE KATRINA telethon in 2005.
WEST made the comment during an appearance on the syndicated ELVIS DURAN AND THE MORNING SHOW program this morning (11/3), adding that he takes responsibility for his comments, and that he has grown since then.
When a caller said she had lost respect for him until hearing him on air, WEST responded “I am like the rap version of GEORGE BUSH. I became GEORGE BUSH … the irony, poetic justice of that was just so amazing. Just for her [the caller] to say ‘I lost respect for you’ is just how a black person would completely say the same thing about GEORGE BUSH.”
Regarding his outburst during TAYLOR SWIFT’s award acceptance, he said “It’s not out of any disrespect to TAYLOR, not out of any disrespect to white musicians because I felt the same pain for JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE when he lost to the DIXIE CHICKS.”
