CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WJLB/DETROIT is joining with THE SALVATION ARMY and AMERICAN JEWELRY & LOAN to present “The 28th Annual Coats For Kids Radiothon”. It will be held SATURDAY NOVEMBER 6th from 9a to 9p at the DETROIT SCIENCE CENTER. The campaign’s goal is to raise money to purchase coats for needy youth in MICHIGAN. Admission to the SCIENCE CENTER is free but listeners are encouraged to make a cash donation. Just $25 allows THE SALVATION ARMY to buy a warm winter coat for a deserving child.
WJLB will broadcast live all day with participation from local air personalities COCO, FOOLISH, MR. CHASE, CHERON, BUSHMAN and DR. DARRIUS. The WJLB air personalities will sign autographs, raffle off prizes and interview artists in an effort to raise awareness and money for THE SALVATION ARMY.
“We’re so thankful to WJLB for hosting this radiothon , now in its 28th year,” said MAJOR JOHN TURNER, General Secretary for THE SALVATION ARMY OF METRO DETROIT. “With MICHIGAN’s povery rate at an astonishing 14%, the highest in over 20 years, it is vital that we come together as a community to keep kids warm and safe.”
“WJLB supports our community year-round,” said CLEAR CHANNEL/DETROIT Market Manager TIL LEVESQUE. “And we are proud to once again partner with THE SALVATION ARMY and Coats For Kids. In the last four years alone, we’ve received thousands of winter coats for kids and $331,801 in cash donations.”
