LIVE NATION ENTERTAINMENT CEO/Global Music JASON GARNER is exiting the company, and will be succeeded by a trio of executives with regional responsibilities and a mandate to reduce costs, reports THE WALL STREET JOURNAL. MARK CAMPANA and BOB ROUX will manage the NORTH AMERICAN market, with RICK FRANKS overseeing strategy for concert tours.
THE JOURNAL writes the "moves put the company's concert business in the hands of executives with deeper experience in that industry than Mr. GARNER, who came to concerts via a circuitous route that included promoting boxing matches."
In a memo that didn't discuss GARNER's exit, CEO MICHAEL RAPINO wrote, "The economy has impacted our industry in 2010 and it looks like it will be another factor in 2011. So we need to focus on the right acts in the right markets with the most efficient organization."
