LEIGHTON BROADCASTING's FOX Sports affiliate, KCNN-A GRAND FORKS, ND was recently granted a new FM translator at 107.9. This past MONDAY (11/1), stunting began on the new frequency featuring a loop of the FLINTSTONES TV show theme and a collection of voices saying "Shut up!" This MORNING (11/4) the stunt ended and, using AEROSMITH "Shut Up And Dance" as the kickoff song, the station revealed its new image as ROCK 107.9.
Using the slogan "SHUT UP AND ROCK," the station will feature a mixture of Rock classics and premium new Rock. Overseeing the effort will be LEIGHTON OM JARROD THOMAS as well as FM Ops Manager JOSHUA FLEMING. JOSH JONES will be PD/Morning host. He joins from afternoons at sister Top 40 KNOX (Z94-7). JONES former shift will now be handled by RICKY VILLA, who joins from CBS Top 40 KMVQ (MOVIN 92.5)/SEATTLE. VILLA will also handle APD duties.
ROCK 107.9 is the brainchild of station GM JEFF HOBERG, along with LUND CONSULTING'S PRESIDENT JOHN LUND and VP DAN SPICE, who will help guide the evolution of the station. The station is voiced by PAT GARRETT.
