ASTOR BROADCAST GROUP Talk KSPA-A (THE SPA)/ONTARIO-RIVERSIDE, CA is flipping back to Adult Standards after CHRISTMAS. The ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER's GARY LYCAN reports that the station, which flipped to the Talk format in an arrangement with CRN DIGITAL TALK RADIO as programmer and sales consultant on MARCH 15th, will flip back to its previous format after CHRISTMAS.
"The billings were not better than before," ASTOR told LYCAN. "Then I lost GLENN BECK to (SALEM Talk) KRLA (LOS ANGELES) and now DR. LAURA is leaving at the end of the year. And my observation was the topics were in one direction, mostly conservative Talk people, and I thought they would be a little more diverse. I cannot compete with big Talk stations. MICHAEL SAVAGE is controversial and we lost some advertisers. It is piecemeal. At the same time, we were hearing listeners and advertisers wanted the music back, so we will go to CHRISTMAS music on THANKSGIVING and return to contemporary standards after CHRISTMAS."
