Cox Flips Houston's Point To '80s-'90s Alternative As 106.9 The Zone

COX MEDIA GROUP has flipped '80s Adult Hits KHPT (106.9 THE POINT)/HOUSTON to Classic Alternative as 106.9 THE ZONE. The station is focusing its playlist on acts from the '80s and '90s, including PEARL JAM, U2, FOO FIGHTERS, GREEN DAY, R.E.M., RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and MATCHBOX 20.
"There is a definite appetite in our market for music by these great artists," COX MEDIA GROUP Market Manager/VP MARK KREISCHEN said. "106.9 THE ZONE is targeting the Alternative music fan that appreciates the great classics, and has a passion for this music genre. We think a lot of people will discover a new favorite radio station when they hear 106.9 THE ZONE."
