The big news for ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON is that morning team TOM FINNERAN and TODD FEINBURG are not being replaced with former MASSACHUSETTS State Treasurer JOE MALONE and comic STEVE SWEENEY, as the WRKO crew and the "replacements" managed to hoax the market after rumors about a change were posted on local websites.

The BOSTON HERALD's JESSICA HESLAM reports that after rumors of FINNERAN and FEINBURG's demise were circulated on a local blog, MALONE and SWEENEY appeared on crosstown GREATER MEDIA Talk WTKK (96.9 BOSTON TALKS) FRIDAY (11/5) telling JIM BRAUDE and MARGERY EAGAN that they were about to launch a new radio show on a competing station. Meanwhile, FINNERAN and FEINBURG used part of MONDAY's show to discuss their impending departure, bringing MALONE on as a guest.

The rumor wasn't true, at least the WRKO part, as PD JASON WOLFE said in a press statement. WOLFE called the news "a frivolous rumor ... Despite the fact this was pure fiction, for some reason TOM and TODD decided to pretend it was true during their program this morning. We're very happy with TODD and TOM's performance, and they are not being replaced."

But MALONE and SWEENEY are indeed launching a show on another station, a weekly show TUESDAYS 6:15-8p (ET), starting TONIGHT on MARSHFIELD BROADCASTING CO. Full Service-Variety WATD/MARSHFIELD.
