Did CITADEL MEDIA host MARK LEVIN's book "Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto" change AMERICA? That's the position of writer and former REAGAN speechwriter JEFFREY LORD in a column at the AMERICAN SPECTATOR, in which LORD gives LEVIN's book the credit for helping motivate the "Tea Party" and the revolt against the Democrats in the House that led to the retaking of Congress by Republicans.
LORD quotes Rep. MICHELLE BACHMANN (R-MN) as saying the book provided the "intellectual balance and foundation" of the Tea Party movement, and "motivated and inspired" the campaigns against incumbent Democrats. LORD, who goes so far as to compare the book's impact to that of THOMAS PAINE's "Common Sense," HARRIET BEECHER STOWE's "Uncle Tom's Cabin," and BARRY GOLDWATER's "The Conscience of a Conservative," also notes the book's presence at Tea Party meetings, including a photo in which SARAH PALIN held a copy in her lap, and the proliferation of "MARK LEVIN: President 2012" bumper stickers.
