A threat received by JAMES CRYSTAL RADIO Talk WFTL-A/FORT LAUDERDALE-WEST PALM BEACH led to the lockdown of all schools in BROWARD COUNTY, FL WEDNESDAY.
The SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL reports that the station received an anonymous phone call at 8:50a (ET) WEDNESDAY from a woman saying her husband was headed to a PEMBROKE PINES school and would start shooting, which led to the PEMBROKE PINES police ordering a school lockdown. The station then found an e-mail threat that targeted BROWARD COUNTY in general, including government buildings, prompting the school district to issue a lockdown order covering the entire county's schools and some private schools and libraries.
The lockdown continued until 1:15p, and students were allowed to leave on time, although after-school activities were canceled.
