FRANK ROGERS' AC CFAO/ALLISTON, ON went dark on JUNE 25th, and the ALLISTON HERALD reports that while ROGERS has told the CRTC that the station will return to the air sometime this month, some locals are skeptical that the station will ever return.
WAYNE HUTCHINSON, the owner of the building in which the station was located, evicted the station and told the paper he is still owed four months' rent. ROGERS has "been gone about two-and-a-half months," HUTCHINSON wrote in an e-mail to the paper. "He stuck us with about C$2,700 of bad cheques...."
Former news anchor and "THE SINGLE PARENT SHOW" host PAULETTE MACDONALD, who alleges that she and others are owed about two weeks' wages, said that the station, being off the air and therefore not airing the promised 100 hours of local programming per week, should have its license revoked by the CRTC ("If he’s not on the air, then how can he meet the agreement of the licence?"), but the CRTC told the HERALD that the agency has no present plans to revoke the license and would first try to negotiate with ROGERS.
MACDONALD is asking anyone who has had business dealings with ROGERS to e-mail her at completewellness@sympatico.ca.
