CMT Reveals '40 Greatest Songs Of The Decade'

ALAN JACKSON's "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" topped CMT's “40 Greatest Songs of the Decade,” which were revealed during the special's premiere on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13th. Inspired by the 9/11 attacks, JACKSON debuted the song on the 2001 CMA AWARDS and it spent five weeks at number one in 2002.
JOHNNY CASH's "Hurt" ranked second on the list, followed by BRAD PAISLEY and ALISON KRAUSS' "Whiskey Lullaby," CARRIE UNDERWOOD's "Jesus, Take the Wheel," and TOBY KEITH's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)." Kenny Chesney, LADY ANTEBELLUM, TIM MCGRAW, TAYLOR SWIFT and LEE ANN WOMACK also had songs in the top ten.
