MARK RAMSEY MEDIA and VIP RESEARCH have released a survey with some red flags for radio. When asked, "If all your local radio stations went off the air tomorrow and you had to get your news, information and music from other sources, how would you feel about this?" Only 37.32% of responders said, "I would be very unhappy and would miss my radio stations a lot;" 38.87% said, "It would be too bad, but I would find other ways to info and entertain myself;" and 23.81% felt "It wouldn't matter much to me -- I can get what radio provides elsewhere."
By gender, women were more loyal to radio with 40.6% saying they'd miss radio, while only 33.4% of males felt the same.
By format, Talk had the moat loyal listeners, with 58.16% saying they'd miss their favorite stations. Rock (44.91%) and Hot AC (43.09%) followed. Classical (57.14%), Urban AC (35.38%) and Urban (32.89%) listeners were most likely not to miss that aspect of their favorite stations.
