CINDY SIVAK of SIVAK ENTERTAINMENT reminds us "On this date, NOVEMBER. 18th, 1999, CD RADIO officially changed its name to SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO. I was VP/Talent & Industry Relations at the time and organized a party/concert at the BEACON THEATRE with STING as entertainment. It was billed as a welcome/thank you to the industry but was secretly a name change party. At about 9p, the new name SIRIUS was revealed by Founder/CEO DAVID MARGOLESE and STING hit the stage! A very proud moment for me and everyone on our skeletal staff -- Programming, Engineering, Finance, and Marketing."
