DAN SILEO intends to cast his HEISMAN TROPHY vote for AUBURN quarterback CAM NEWTON despite the allegations of improprieties in his recruitment process, and the CLEAR CHANNEL Sports WDAE-A (THE SPORTS ANIMAL)/TAMPA morning man's opinion is the subject of a column in TODAY's WASHINGTON EXAMINER.
Columnist JIM WILLIAMS interviewed SILEO about his intention to vote for NEWTON, and SILEO told him that he doesn't like "half-truths and innuendos or speculation" and came to the conclusion that NEWTON deserved the award after talking to former NFL quarterback DOUG WILLIAMS and others around the SEC. "To me, he is the most complete player in the college ranks and unless there is proof that his has done something wrong -- and I hope there isn't -- then he will get my vote," said SILEO.
