With CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WFLA-A/TAMPA Dir./Information Programming STEVE VERSNICK adding PD duties for sister Sports WDAE-A (THE SPORTS ANIMAL) and Talk WHNZ-A (NET NEWS 11/15), VERSNICK is now searching for an APD for WDAE.
VERSNICK says that "this is a not a job for beginners or those looking for the standard 9-to-5 job. We are looking for someone with the talent and potential to be a Program Director in the future." The station serves as flagship for all of the local major sports franchises (BUCS football, RAYS baseball, LIGHTNING hockey, and the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA BULLS), and carries UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA GATORS games as well. "THE SPORTS ANIMAL doesn't do the typical boring sports talk," adds VERSNICK, "we bring an attitude we are looking to build upon." The station is looking for self-starting team players with a love of sports and a knack for finding the best content, and can also help WFLA and WHNZ. A passion for web content and understanding of its importance and relevance to a talk show are also required. On-air experience is not required but could be beneficial.
Duties include handling schedules and daily tracking of shows, working with Promotions and Sales on station events, website content creation and maintenance, board op and producer scheduling, and additional work with WFLA on events and content creation. Some on-air shifts may also be possible. Applicants must have previous radio experience in either hosting or producing shows, proficiency in audio editing and website editing, ability to write compelling teases, promos, and spots, and proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with NexGen and RCSNews and in news or talk radio are not required but a plus.
