Sony Pictures, CMT & WSIX Launch 'Country Strong Singing Challenge'

The TENNESSEAN is reporting that SONY PICTURES, CMT and CLEAR CHANNEL Country WSIX/NASHVILLE are teaming up to host the “Country Strong Singing Challenge” on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1st at 7p (CT) at THE STAGE on Broadway in MUSIC CITY.
Contestants will perform a one-minute a cappella version of the MERLE HAGGARD classic “Silver Wings” or a one-minute a cappella version of “Country Strong,” sung by actress GWYNETH PALTROW in the movie of the same name.
The “Country Strong Singing Challenge” is being held in multiple cities like AUSTIN, CHICAGO, HOUSTON, L.A. and more. The NASHVILLE winner will receive $500 and will qualify to compete for the national grand prize, which is a meeting with a SONY MUSIC executive, a chance to record at a CMT studio and a potential spot on a CMT program.
The movie “Country Strong” opens in NASHVILLE and L.A. theaters on DECEMBER 22nd and in theaters nationwide on JANUARY 7th.
