The CHARLOTTE OBSERVER's MARK WASHBURN is reporting that longtime CBS RADIO Sports WFNZ-A (THE FAN)/CHARLOTTE afternoon host MARK PACKER has exited the station after 13 years. Last WEDNESDAY's regionally-syndicated "PRIMETIME WITH THE PACKMAN" was PACKER's last for the station.
PACKER, son of former CBS college basketball analyst BILLY PACKER, told WASHBURN that he will continue to host the show for his 14 other affiliates and expects to be back on the air in CHARLOTTE after his CBS contract expires in JULY. He will also continue hosting and doing commentary for crosstown CW affiliate WJZY-TV.
