The BBC and the NATIONAL UNION OF JOURNALISTS have reached an agreement in principal that would avert another strike over pension issues. The agreement will be taken up by NUJ representatives on FRIDAY.
The network was hit by a two-day strike early in NOVEMBER, but a second scheduled strike was called off. The BBC has revised its offer, and the BECTU union accepted the new deal while the NUJ rejected it. The latest deal increased the career-average benefit pension yearly increase by up to 4% instead of 2.5%.
