TOWNSQUARE MEDIA has purchased 12 stations in WASHINGTON state formerly owned by NEW NORTHWEST BROADCASTERS from receiver REVITALIZATION PARTNERS for $6 million, and is spinning seven of the stations and four of its existing stations in the YAKIMA and TRI-CITIES market into a trust for divestiture.
The deal includes Sports KJOX-A (ESPN RADIO 1390), Adult Hits KRSE (105.7 BOB FM), Country KXDD, and Top 40/Rhythmic KHHK (HOT 99.7)/YAKIMA, WA; Oldies KARY (100.9 CHERRY FM)/GRANDVIEW-YAKIMA; Talk KBBO-A (TALK 980 K-USA)/SELAH-YAKIMA; Classic Rock KEGX (EAGLE 106.5), Sports KALE-A (960 ESPN), and Country KIOK (94.9 THE WOLF)/RICHLAND; Talk KTCR-A/KENNEWICK; Classic Hits KKSR (95.7 FUN FM)/WALLA WALLA; and Top 40 KUJ-F (POWER 99.1)/BURBANK plus FM translator K232CB/PENDLETON.
TOWNSQUARE in turn has placed Classic Hits KOLW (97.5 COOL FM)/BASIN CITY, WA; Hot AC KEYW (98.3 THE KEY)/PASCO; Country KDBL (92.9 THE BULL)/TOPPENISH, WA; and AC KQMY (MY 99.3)/NACHES, WA into THE TRI-CITIES/YAKIMA DIVESTITURE TRUST in order to divest the stations to comply with FCC ownership caps, and seven of the stations in the initial deal, KARY, KBBO, KHHK, KJOX, KALE, KIOK, and KKSR, will be placed by the receiver into the same trust.
The deal will result in TOWNSQUARE holding six stations and a translator in the TRI-CITIES market and six stations and a translator in the YAKIMA market.
Kansas Translator Sold
In another deal filed with the FCC, RADIO ASSIST MINISTRY is selling FM translator K247AT/CHANUTE, KS to MY TOWN MEDIA INC. for $25,000. The buyer plans to use the translator to rebroadcast its Talk KKOY-A/CHANUTE-PITTSBURG, KS.
FRIENDS OF CHRISTIAN RADIO, INC. has filed for an extension of the Silent STA for W266BF/SOUTH BEND, IN due to security issues at its site, with vandalism knocking the station off the air last APRIL 4th.
In a deal not yet filed with the Commission, GARY BURNS' 3 DAUGHTERS MEDIA is selling Talk WUUS-A/ROSSVILLE, GA-CHATTANOOGA to TENNESSEE TEMPLE UNIVERSITY for $175,000. The buyer recently sold its noncommercial Religion WDYN/CHATTANOOGA to BIBLE BROADCASTING NETWORK for $2.5 million.
In another deal not yet filed at the FCC, INDEPENDENCE MEDIA HOLDINGS is selling Talk WNUY (FM100 TALKS)/BLUFFTON-FORT WAYNE, IN to GODWIN-STARKES PROPERTY MANAGEMENT for $350,000.
Haliburton Buys Pair In Southern Ontario
HALIBURTON BROADCASTING GROUP is buying Hot AC CFLZ (105.1 THE RIVER)/NIAGARA FALLS, ON and Top 40/Rhythmic CKEY (Z101)/FORT ERIE, ON-BUFFALO, NY for an undisclosed price.
