NEW YORK November 2010: WCBS-F Hits The Top, WABC-A Surging
In a market where the Top 3 seems to be as predictable as a REX RYAN expletive, there was some movement in NOVEMBER in NEW YORK as CBS RADIO Classic Hits WCBS-F moved into a first place tie with CLEAR CHANNEL AC WLTW (106.7 LITE FM) with 5.9 P6+. CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z100) was third with 4.7. Though LITE FM maintained its #1 status, it was down in almost all demos for the month and gets a mental asterisk having flipped the Christmas music switch on NOVEMBER 19th.
WCBS-F’s growth was most significant in the demos one would expect, rising from #4 to #2 P25-54 and from #2 to #1t P35-64.
CITADEL Talk WABC-A (4.1-4.4 P6+) surged ahead of CBS RADIO News WCBS-A (4.4-4.3 P6+) (see Snapshot Trends below).
TOP 40 flip: EMMIS Top 40/R WQHT (HOT 97) and Z100 flipped positions in NOVEMBER with Z100 #1 to #2 HOT 97 P18-34. CBS RADIO Top 40 WXRK (92.3 NOW) was #6.
MORNINGS: Might as well call it NEWS YORK as the top-three morning shows were all-News and all within two-tenths of a share P6+ with CBS RADIO News WINS-A #1 (5.7) and WABC-A and WCBS-A #2t with 5.5. ELVIS DURAN on Z100 was #1 P25-54.

LOS ANGELES November 2010: KIIS, K-EARTH, KOST Are Kings Of L.A.

POWER 106 and AMP 97.1 rose in share in NOVEMBER while KIIS fell off a bit. They were even closer P18-49 (KIIS #1 vs. POWER 106 and AMP 97.1 #3t).

PHILADELPHIA November 2010: KYW, B101 Rise Above WDAS
CBS RADIO News KYW-A and WEAZ RADIO AC WBEB (B101-FM) pushed CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC WDAS out of the way atop PHILADELPHIA’s PPM ratings in NOVEMBER. #1 KYW (7.5) and #2 B101 (7.1) each moved up one spot as WDAS fell to #3 (6.5) P6+.
CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WIOQ (Q102) completed a nice three-month run to the top P18-34 ahead of former #1s BEASLEY Top 40/Rhythmic WRDW (WIRED 96.5) (now #3) and CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WUSL (now #5).
Classic battle: GREATER MEDIA Classic Rock WMGK, CBS Radio Classic Hits WOGL, and CBS RADIO Rock WYSP were separated by mere tenths P25-54, ranking #8, #9, and #10, though WYSP had a significant edge with MEN 25-54 (#4t vs. #7 WMGK and #11 WOGL. WOGL and WMGK were #4 and #5 P35-64 while WYSP was #13.
Christmas flip: B101-FM went all Yule-tunes on 11/18 and had a solid month overall, with share growth in all demos, moving past WDAS to take the #1 spot P25-54.
Domination Station: The PRESTON and STEVE morning show on GREATER MEDIA Rock WMMR isn’t doing anything new by doubling the audience of their closest competitor in key demos, but it’s still worth a nod and a wink. Being #1 P18-34, P18-49, and P25-54 just ain’t bad.

CBS RADIO Sports KRLD (105.3 THE FAN) and CUMULUS Sports KTCK-A (THE TICKET) were smoking right along with the hide of now ex-COWBOYS coach WADE PHILLIPS.
