BIA FINANCIAL NETWORK makes yet another change to its previously announced rankings of the nation's top billing stations for 2005, and now ranks KROQ/LOS ANGELES as the number one biller at $67.6 million, dropping previous leader WLTW (LITE 106.7)/NEW YORK to fourth with $58.9 million.
The new rankings place WINS-A/NEW YORK in second ($60.8 million), followed by KFI-A/LOS ANGELES ($59.3 million), WLTW, KPWR (POWER 106)/LOS ANGELES ($57.9 million), WCBS-A/NEW YORK ($56.2 million), KIIS/LOS ANGELES ($52.8 million), WFAN-A/NEW YORK ($52.5 million), WGN-A/CHICAGO ($52.4 million), and KLSX (97.1 FREE FM)/LOS ANGELES ($51.2 million).
As to why the original list was so far off the mark, BIAfn VP MARK R. FRATRIK said that "the adjustment reflects a better estimate of the impact of the changes in industry practices that occurred last year such as stations reducing inventory levels in response to competition from satellite and other audio options. Since the timing of our first announcement, we’ve received numbers that provide a more accurate picture of resulting revenues.”
