SONY MUSIC NASHVILLE has presented Country legend LORETTA LYNN with a rose to celebrate the release of the multi-artist tribute album "Coal Miner's Daughter: A Tribute To LORETTA LYNN" THURSDAY (12/9), but not just any rose: A special breed of rose has been named after the singer.
The "LORETTA LYNN Van Lear" rose, named after LYNN and her "Van Lear Rose" album, was developed by BRAD JALBERT of SELECT ROSES, and is classified as a floribunda with a rich apricot hue. The first plants with the rose will be delivered to LYNN's ranch in SPRING 2011.
"Roses have always been so special to me -- I've loved them since I was a girl," said LYNN. "So to have a rose named after one of my albums... well, I'm not sure I quite have the words for that! I'm just very, very honored. I can't wait to have those Van Lear roses blooming in my yard!"
The roses will be available for purchase by the public, with initial plants available in BRITISH COLUMBIA in the SPRING and more for mail order to the U.S. by FALL 2011.
