Classical Coming To 101.1/Columbus This Week

Move Almost Complete

The transition of FUN WITH RADIO Alternative WWCD (CD101)/COLUMBUS, OH to its new 102.5 FM frequency will be completed WEDNESDAY with the end of its simulcast on its original 101.1 signal and the debut of a new Classical format on 101.1 under new owner OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY's WOSU PUBLIC MEDIA, reports the COLUMBUS DISPATCH's TIM FERAN. The college plans to close on the deal on TUESDAY and flip to the Classical format on WEDNESDAY.

The move will allow OHIO STATE's noncommercial WOSU/COLUMBUS to ultimately go all-News-Talk sometime early in 2011. WWCD began simulcasting on 101.1 and 102.5, the former WHIZ MEDIA GROUP Country WCVZ (HIGHWAY 102)/BALTIMORE, OH, on JUNE 30th.
