ALICE COOPER is among this years inductees into THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. The DETROIT-born rocker, whose real name is VINCENT DAMON FURNIER, is part of the Hall's Class of 2011, along with NEIL DIAMOND, DR. JOHN, TOM WAITS and DARLENE LOVE.
The 62-year old COOPER is known for his over the top stage shows, featuring guillotines, fake blood, mutilated dolls and slippery snakes. Hits such as "Eighteen," "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "Only Women Bleed," continue to garner airplay.
"You know it crosses your mind, but then you think of all the guys who aren't in there, some of them before you, and you go, 'Wow.' ... You realize that it's a waiting game," he said in a phone interview with AP. "I don't think you sit around holding your breath on it."
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS also reports "NEIL DIAMOND had been eligible for THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME for several years but never got a nomination to join music's prestigious club. But he was never really worried about it."
"I thought about it occasionally, but I kind of figured they'd get around to me at some point," he said in a phone interview with AP.
