CLEAR CHANNEL Country WSIX (THE BIG 98)/NASHVILLE PD KEITH KAUFFMAN and his staff completed a very cool promotion to raise money for the RED CROSS yesterday (4/13). The promo, called "TUNE-AID-O," raised funds for the victims of the recent and devestating tornados in MIDDLE TENNESSEE. WSIX listeners kicked in over $8,400 to hear requests that ranged from DISCO DUCK to DURAN DURAN. Even a little AC-DC got into the mix. On top of that, LYRIC STREET stars RASCAL FLATTS called in and added $1,000 for each cut played off their new (and SOUNDSCAN #1) album, "Me and My Gang." All 13 songs were played, bringing the total to $21,400.
This money raised yesterday alone will; provide replacement clothing for 44 families of 4, provide medical supplies and medication for 42 disaster victims, provide a week of groceries for 186 families of 4, provide comfort kits with toiletry essentials for 356 people and provide clean up kits for 1070 families to disenfect their homes. Nice job!
