Former WGAN/Portland VP/GM Chuck Sanford Dies

Condolences to family and friends of longtime PORTLAND, ME broadcaster CHARLES R. "CHUCK" SANFORD, who died WEDNESDAY (1/12) of heart complications from pneumonia in SOUTH PORTLAND, ME at 86.

SANFORD started in radio at WJOR-A/BANGOR in 1947, then moved to GUY GANNETT BROADCASTING at WGUY-A/BANGOR, transferring to WGAN-A/PORTLAND in 1952.  He remained with the station until 1986, starting as a host and News Director, then PD, and eventually serving as VP/GM.
