KOZT Celebrates 20 Years

Two Decades Of Community Radio

CALIFORNIA RADIO PARTNERS Heritage Triple A KOZT (THE COAST)/FORT BRAGG, CA, is set to celebrate 20 years serving MEDOCINO COUNTY.  And they are throwing a party on FEBRUARY 1st to mark the occasion! 

The party will include listeners winning dozens of birthday gifts on FACEBOOK and random drawings by call-in.  The station will give away CDs, DVDs and exclusive birthday fleece jackets sporting the brand new 20th birthday logo at the party. 

Owners TOM YATES and VICKY WATTS purchased the satellite-carrying signals in 1990 and, after building the library and a live air studio, launched the new local broadcast on FEBRUARY 1st, 1991.  Along the way, YATES and WATTS added two new frequencies;  24-hour streaming;  a Rock Station of the Year Marconi Award;  three Crystal Awards for public service;  numerous community commendations and recognitions;  and #1 market status in ARBITRON.
