UTV Sports TALKSPORT/LONDON has inked recently-departed former SKY SPORTS soccer commentators RICHARD KEYS and ANDY GRAY to host a new midday show 10a-1p beginning FEBRUARY 14th. The new show will replace MIKE PARRY and MIKE GRAHAM in the lineup; PARRY has left the station.
GRAY was fired and KEYS resigned from SKY over remarks about a female soccer official that were widely criticized as sexist. KEYS worked at PICCADILLY RADIO/MANCHESTER before moving to television as co-host at TV AM in the 1980s; GRAY, a former player for DUNDEE UNITED, ASTON VILLA, WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS, EVERTON, WEST BROMWICH ALBION, RANGERS, and CHELTENHAM TOWN, worked in radio at TALKSPORT predecessor TALK RADIO UK at the 1988 WORLD CUP and for BBC RADIO 5 LIVE at the 2002 WORLD CUP.
KEYS said, "This is the start of something new and exciting for ANDY and myself. We are delighted to be joining the TALKSPORT family and can't wait to get going." GRAY added, "I can't tell you how excited I am about joining the TALKSPORT team. It's an ideal opportunity for RICHARD and me to do what we do best, and that's talk about sport."
PD MOZ DEE said, "This is great news for TALKSPORT and we're very excited about the new programme and these additions to our strengthening lineup. ANDY and RICHARD are iconic broadcasters with massive TV careers who I know will have an impact on national radio, so it's great for the industry. This continues our commitment to investing in top talent and rights, and builds on our recent RAJAR success and our biggest audience ever."
