FLINN BROADCASTING will flip its Adult Standards WMPS-A and FM-on-low-power-TV Rock WPGS-LP (87.7 THE PIG)/MEMPHIS to a simulcast of a new conservative Talk format as "THE POINT." The new format, to launch MONDAY (2/21), will be programmed by MARK SKODA's MPS BROADCASTING and will feature NASHVILLE-based syndicated STEVE GILL, WESTWOOD ONE's DENNIS MILLER, DOUG URBANSKI, JIM BOHANNON, and "FIRST LIGHT WITH DIRK VAN," SALEM's MIKE GALLAGHER, TALK RADIO NETWORK's RUSTY HUMPHRIES, and IRN USA's MATTHEW HILL and "NEWS AND VIEWS."
SKODA, who will also host shows on the station, said, "I am pleased to be bringing a compelling radio station to MEMPHIS and the surrounding market. Our FM signal will provide unparalleled listening pleasure for the talk radio listener. And since we will be simulcasting on the AM band as well, WMPS 'THE POINT' will offer content heard across both platforms. This puts MEMPHIS in line with other major markets such as ATLANTA and allows our listeners and advertisers extraordinary reach. We'll also provide our content over the internet and via a mobile platform."
FLINN President GEORGE FLINN said, "MARK SKODA is a powerful activist in the grass roots Tea Party movement. His passion and commitment inspired me to work with him to provide the platform for his vision. I believe he has created a unique offering of content while also expanding his own on air commentary."
