With JOHN DEPETRO moving back to middays, CITADEL Talk WPRO-A-WEAN (NEWS TALK 630 WPRO AND 99.7 FM)/PROVIDENCE has named TARA GRANAHAN and ANDREW GOBEIL as co-hosts of THE WPRO MORNING NEWS, starting MARCH 7th. GRANAHAN, who is being upped from Executive Producer, and GOBEIL will be joined by News Director and anchor BILL HABERMAN on the show, along with reports from ABC NEWS RADIO.
"I am thrilled to enter into this new and exciting chapter with WPRO," said GRANAHAN. "It's an honor to become the first woman to be behind the same microphone as SALTY BRINE, a man who actually gave my mother her first job. Now, that's RHODE ISLAND!"
"I'm a journalist first and a personality second", said GOBEIL. "TARA and I will work to get beyond the headlines and give the newsmakers a chance to have their voices heard. However; they should expect fair, challenging questions. Our goal is to inform and entertain. We want to make sure that our listeners have all the information they need to start the day, with a smile on their face."
"The chemistry among these three veteran broadcasters will produce four hours of morning news with a WPRO signature sound that will lead the news cycle in Rhode Island", said GM BARBARA HAYNES. "Since 2005, Program Director PAUL GIAMMARCO has executed a successful plan to advance WPRO, and this new morning show under his direction, will extend six consecutive years of ratings and revenue growth. I am tremendously enthusiastic about this new chapter in WPRO's history."
