ALL ACCESS has learned that CARL HIRSCH passed away last evening of a heart attack. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Industry vet JOHN GORMAN, who programmed WMMS/CLEVELAND under HIRSCH said, "CARL was the driving force in the successes of WMMS, Z100, WMJI, and other MALRITE, LEGACY and OMNIAMERICA radio properties over three decades. He recognized talent, provided everyone a wide berth to succeed, and had only two rules -- don’t make the same mistake twice and don’t jeopardize the (radio) license. Other than that, he fostered and encouraged creativity and taking chances. There was only one CARL HIRSCH in the radio business and those of us who worked with him know how fortunate we were."

CARL HIRSCH's funeral service will be on SUNDAY, 11a, at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ, 1985 South Taylor Rd. in CLEVELAND HEIGHTS. In lieu of flowers, send donations to LERNER RESEARCH INSTITUTE HIRSCH FUND or PALM BEACH WELLNESS EXPANSION FUND, both at CLEVELAND CLINIC, P.O. Box 931517, CLEVELAND, OH 44193-1655.
