On FRIDAY (NET NEWS 3/11), ALL ACCESS told you the story of OHANA BROADCASTING Dir./Programming RICK THOMAS, and that group's work to keep HAWAII informed of the incoming tsunami caused by the earthquake in JAPAN. With the disaster in that country continuing to unfold, radio is beginning to organize help.
THOMAS told ALL ACCESS, "Here's something that local radio vereran LANAI put together. Local organization GRP HOME consists of BUTI-GROOVE HAWAII, FITTED HAWAII, IN4MATION and THE BAREFOOT LEAGUE. GRP HOME's mission is to spread the meaning of Aloha. They've created a t-shirt with the O in Aloha as JAPAN's Rising Sun, and are selling them for $20 -- 100% of the proceeds benefit the HAWAII RED CROSS FOUNDATION to support victims in JAPAN. So far the organization has printed over 600 shirts."
CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KHKS (106.1 KISS-FM)/DALLAS is collecting money in the form of pennies.
