CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES afternoon team JOHN KOBYLT and KEN CHIAMPOU get not one but two major articles focusing on the power they wield in CALIFORNIA state politics, with the LOS ANGELES TIMES and ASSOCIATED PRESS both featuring the show.
The TIMES article counts JOHN AND KEN among the "three JOHNs" -- blogger and Republican Party official JON FLEISCHMAN and HOWARD JARVIS TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION Pres. JON COUPAL are the others -- who lead the anti-tax sentiment in the state. Noting that JOHN AND KEN are not Republicans and remain unaffiliated, the article quotes State Senate leader DARRELL STEINBERG (D-SACRAMENTO) as saying, "There is nary a conversation about the budget that does not involve the names JOHN AND KEN." Read the TIMES piece here.
Meanwhile, the AP story discusses JOHN AND KEN's "Heads on a Stick" campaign against Republican lawmakers who have reneged on their pledges not to vote for tax increases and calls them "a pair of AM-radio shouters whose conservative-minded audience has a track record of making life uncomfortable, even miserable, for politicians who lose the pair’s favor ... but there is no dispute that KOBYLT and CHIAMPOU are entertainment hotshots in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and part of the fabric of conservative politics in the state."
