SOUTH CAROLINA Governor NIKKI HALEY has appointed seven new commissioners to the state's EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION COMMISSION, which operates a network of eight public radio stations and 11 PBS television affiliates statewide. THE STATE reports that HALEY replaced the previous board with JILL KELSO, ELISE BIDWELL, ZEDA HOMOKI, JOSEPH MILLWOOD, ROBERT MCCOY, NICOLE HOLLAND, and BRENT NELSON, with NELSON serving as Chairman and at-large Commissioner (the others each represent a Congressional district).
Exiting were Chairman ROBERT RAINEY, D. CHRISTOPHER DRUMMOND, D. CHRISTIAN GOODALL, WILLIAM MATTHEWS SELF, JR., WENDELL CANTRELL, T. GARY BROWN and LEE GAILLARD.
HALEY said in her State of the State speech in JANUARY that state funding for ETV and the Arts Commission should be cut and converted to the private sector.
