New York February 2011: February Looking Up For Top 3 In NYC

All three of NEW YORK’s Top 3 stations in JANUARY were up P6+ in FEBRUARY, maintaining the same rankings that they had the month before. CLEAR CHANNEL AC WLTW (106.7 LITE FM) was #1 (6.8-7.1), CBS Radio Classic Hits WCBS-F was #2 (5.2-5.6) and CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WHTZ (Z100) was #3 (4.7-5.3). CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Rhythmic WKTU rose from #5 to #4 and CBS RADIO News WINS-A went #6 to #5 while CBS RADIO News WCBS-A dropped from #4 to #6t.

Z100 completed a three month run from #3 to #2 to #1t P18-34 (with #1t EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic WQHT (HOT 97), while WKTU rose from #4 to #3 and CBS RADIO Top 40 WXRK (92.3 NOW) was flat at #6 but with a 2.9-3.2 gain, it's WXRK's best showing yet as a Top 40.

Los Angeles February 2011: Yawn At The Top, KBIG Has Large Month

The Transverse Ranges notwithstanding, LOS ANGELES was almost flat at the top in FEBRUARY with very little movement in the Top 3 in most demos. CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 KIIS was #1 P6+ with 5.6, followed by #2 CLEAR CHANNEL AC KOST (103.5) with 4.9 and #3 CBS RADIO Classic Hits KRTH (K-EARTH) with 4.4, ranking the same as each had in JANUARY with virtually unchanged shares.

CLEAR CHANNEL Hot AC KBIG (104.3 MY FM) had a big month going from #11t to #5 P25-54 and from #12t to #7 P35-64. KOST maintained its #1 position P25-54 and was #1t (with K-EARTH) P35-64.

Three format pairs fought for the top six spots P18-34. KIIS and EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic KPWR (POWER 106) were #1 and #2, the shares for both up slightly for the month. CBS RADIO Alternative KROQ and CLEAR CHANNEL Alternative KYSR also rose in share with KROQ going from #4 to #3 and KYSR moving from #10 to #6t. And LIBERMAN Regional Mexican KBUE (#4 ) and UNIVISION Regional Mexican KSCA (LA NUEVA 101.9) (#5) were both down slightly.

Chicago February 2011: Urban Sounding Sweet

CLEAR CHANNEL Urban AC WVAZ (V-103) (#3 4.6-4.8) and CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WGCI (#5 3.8-4.0) were the only stations that increased their P6+ share in the Top 5 in CHICAGO in FEBRUARY. Though their ranks remained the same as they had been in JANUARY, #1 CBS RADIO News WBBM-A (6.1), #2 TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A (4.9) and #4 CITADEL Talk WLS-A (4.3) were down slightly.

V-103 was up in all key demos including going from #2 to #1 P25-54 and P35-64. WGCI also was up in all key demos and maintained its #1 position P18-34 and went #1t to #1 P18-49.

San Francisco February 2011: News Wins, Top 40s In Three-Way Dance

CBS RADIO News KCBS-A was #1 (6.5-6.9) and KQED PUBLIC MEDIA Talk KQED-F was #2 (5.2-6.1) P6+ in SAN FRANCISCO in FEBRUARY. ENTERCOM AC KOIT was #3 (5.2-5.5).

Top 40/Rhythmic KYLD (WILD 94.9), Top 40/Mainstream KMVQ (99.7 NOW) and Top 40/Rhythmic KMEL were separated by only tenths of a share P6+ and P25-54 while changing places in rank in different demos.

KMEL was #1 P18-34 while WILD 94.9 was #3 and 99.7 NOW was #5. WILD 94.9 led the pack of Top 40s in the P18-49 demo at #2 (behind UNIVISION Spanish Adult Hits KBRG (RECUERDO 100.3) with KMEL #3 and 99.7 NOW #4. With P25-54, 99.7 NOW and WILD 94.9 tied at #6 while KMEL was #8.

ACs were tight in the P25-54 demo, too. KOIT and Hot AC KIOI (STAR 101.3) were tied at #4. CLEAR CHANNEL Rhythmic AC KISQ (98.1 KISS FM) was #11 and CBS Hot AC KLLC(ALICE@97.3) was tied with INNER CITY AC KBLX at #12.

RECUERDO 100.3, the top Spanish language station in every demo, had another big month (see Snapshot Trends below) going from #4 to #1 P18-49 and from #3 to #2 P25-54.
