THE WEATHER CHANNEL has announced the launch of THE WEATHER CHANNEL ESPANOL RADIO NETWORK this week. The new service of localized weather information in Spanish will reach audiences in MIAMI, ATLANTA, ORLANDO, and PORTLAND, OR (WSUA-A/Miami, WRUM/Orlando, KWBY-A/Portland, and WASO-A, WXEM and WLBA/ATLANTA).
"The number of Spanish-language radio stations across the country has doubled in the past 10 years to 700 terrestrial stations," said THE WEATHER CHANNEL RADIO NETWORK AND NEWSPAPER SYNDICATION VP/GM HAROLD LEWIS. "We are pleased to add our well-respected brand of weather information to the burgeoning number of media outlets targeting the Spanish-speaking population. And, since a significant portion of the Spanish-speaking audience lives in areas often threatened by severe weather, we believe the addition of TWC ESPANOL RADIO NETWORK will be valuable within their respective communities."
The broadcasts will be reported in Spanish by THE WEATHER CHANNEL ESPANOL RADIO NETWORK radio broadcast meteorologist JAQUELINA MICHIENZI.
