CLEAR CHANNEL/TAMPA Hot AC WMTX (MIX 100.7)/TAMPA afternooner NANCY ALEXANDER is out after numerous years with the station. TAMPABAY.COM reports, "officials at CLEAR CHANNEL declined to say why they took ALEXANDER off the air or who would succeed her in the station's 3-7p weekday timeslot. The host herself said she was blindsided by the news and unable to explain the move, which will see her leave WMTX after more than a dozen years as its highest-profile local host."
Two years ago (NET NEWS 11/30/2009), after 10 years doing mornings at WMTX ALEXANDER moved to afternoons. In addition, her co-host SHRINER is out, too.
"I wasn't let go -- my contract is not being renewed," said ALEXANDER to TAMPABAY.COM. "I can't make sense of it."
"I'll be fine," she added. "I always land on my feet."
Sister Top 40 WNRW (RADIO NOW 98.9)/LOUISVILLE PD/afternoon talent MIKE KLEIN fills in afternoons at WMTX via voice-tracking until a replacement can be named.
