The consolidation watch continues as, just a day after FCC Commissioner MICHAEL COPPS asserted that "the time is now" for the Commission to finally respond to the Third Circuit court's order and review its media ownership rules, the FCC released the agenda for its next open meeting and, once again, media ownership review is not on it.
There are no radio broadcast-related agenda items for the MAY 3 meeting; the Commission also remains split between two Democrats and two Republicans, which may mean Chairman KEVIN MARTIN is waiting until the panel returns to a 3-2 Republican majority befofe proceeding.
The Commission also scheduled the next meeting of its independent panel reviewing the impact of Hurricane KATRINA on communications networks for MAY 12.
