Urban-Gospel WAPZ-A/WETUMPKA. AL morning host ROBERTA FRANKLIN will not have to serve her sentence for welfare fraud in jail, an ALABAMA judge ruled last week.
FRANKLIN will serve her year for stealing $1,648 in food stamps at her home, with MONTGOMERY COUNTY Circuit Judge TRUMAN HOBBS JR. ruling that the recent death of FRANKLIN's son justified reassigning her to community corrections and allowing her to stay home. The ruling is being reviewed by the state Attorney General's office because prosecutors were not notified about the hearing at which the judge changed the sentence.
