CITADEL Alternative WRAX (THE X @ 100.5)/BIRMINGHAM has named STEVE ROBISON as its new PD. ROBISON replaces KEN WALL, who departed a couple weeks ago for the PD post at SHAMROCK COMMUNICATIONS Alternative KMYZ/TULSA. ROBISON was previously PD/morning co-host at CLEAR CHANNEL Alternative KTBZ (92.5 THE BUZZ)/HOUSTON, a station he helped launch back in 1994. His first day at WRAX will be MAY 15th.
CITADEL/BIRMINGHAM GM DALE DANIELS said, "We are very pleased to have STEVE ROBISON join our CITADEL team as the program director for WRAX. We had a tremendous response from many qualified candidates and we feel we found the perfect fit with STEVE. Having spent 9 years with the BUZZ in HOUSTON, STEVE brings a wealth of knowledge regarding alternative music, and also has a great appreciation for WRAX as he has kept up with the station since it went on the air. Through the years he has followed the station very closely and as a result is quite familiar with what has made it a true icon."
"I am extremely excited about joining WRAX," said ROBISON. "This is a station I have always kept an eye on through the years, and am honored to be asked to join the team. 'RAX has a history and passion for the format that is well-known throughout the industry, and it's going to be a blast to be here. I have to thank BRENT ALBERTS, DARRIN ARRIENS, DALE DANIELS, and all the other great people I have met through this process at Citadel. It is truly a dream job for me, and I can't wait to get started."
