A new three-year contract will keep DON GERONIMO at CBS RADIO Sports KHTK-A/SACRAMENTO through 2014, the midday host announced MONDAY (5/9). In addition, GERONIMO has added PD duties at the station. The PD slot had been vacant since the departure of MARK EVANS in NOVEMBER, with VP/Programming BYRON KENNEDY assuming oversight of KHTK in the interim.
GERONIMO joined KHTK, where his previous WESTWOOD ONE-syndicated "DON AND MIKE SHOW" enjoyed a long run of success, in JUNE 2010. He added television to his schedule in FEBRUARY, joining sister CW affiliate KMAX-TV (CW31)'s "GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO."
The radio show has been in the middle of the drive to keep the NBA's SACRAMENTO KINGS in town, with producer CARMICHAEL DAVE instrumental in the "Here We Build" grass-roots movement credited with pushing Mayor KEVIN JOHNSON and civic leaders to make a successful last-minute appeal to the NBA. A rally to celebrate the drive's success is scheduled for TUESDAY at SACRAMENTO's CESAR CHAVEZ PARK, with TESLA performing live and former KINGS SCOTT POLLARD and DOUG CHRISTIE scheduled to appear.
