As reported last week on ALL ACCESS (NET NEWS 5/13), CUMULUS AC WEBE (108 FM)/BRIDGEPORT offered local SHELTON HIGH SCHOOL student JAMES TATE and his date SONALI RODRIGUES a night on the town after the school suspended TATE and forbid him from attending the prom on JUNE 4th.
TATE's crime was putting a cardboard sign in front of the school early in the morning of FRIDAY (5/6) that said, "SONALI RODRIGUES, WILL YOU GO TO THE PROM WITH ME?" After the media pressure from WEBE, local residents, and the entire country, the school overturned the decision and will now allow the couple to attend the prom.
WEBE will continue to fulfill their offer for a night out on the town for JAMES TATE and his date that will include a limousine, flowers, and a chaperon by WEBE 108's own afternoon guy DJ ROBBY BRIDGES. In addition, JAMES will be treated to a haircut at a local salon, and his date SONALI will have her pick of a piece of jewelry from a local FAIRFIELD jeweler. The couple will also enjoy a complimentary dinner at one of the finest restaurants in town on the night of their choosing.
